The Seven Great Singing Stars 七大歌星
The seven highlighted performers below are the Seven Great Singing Stars or the qī dà gēxīng of the 1930s and 40s, based mainly in Shanghai. Each performer received their own nickname or title, such as Bai Guang, the “Queen of the Low Voice.” These performers had varying career trajectories; some went on to act and sing in Hong Kong while others retired or switched professions.
